Terms of Service

Welcome to Followthrough (“Followthrough,” “we,” “us”). Followthrough is a commitment platform where you stake money on a personal fitness goal, prove your progress with daily screenshots, and either get your stake back or have it distributed to others. By creating an account, joining a challenge, or paying a stake, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use Followthrough
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You're responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in email secure. One account per person.
2. How a challenge works
A challenge has a goal (for example, “8,000 steps a day for 30 days”), a start date, a duration, a stake amount, and a chosen charity. When you join, you pay your full stake up front. That money is held by us in escrow on our payment processor (Stripe) for the duration of the challenge — it is not spent or invested while the challenge runs.
Each day, you upload a screenshot from a fitness app as proof. We use an automated system (including AI) to read the screenshot and check it against the challenge goal, and to detect duplicates or manipulation. You are responsible for submitting genuine, unedited screenshots of your own activity. Submitting fraudulent, altered, AI-generated, or someone else's data is a breach of these Terms and may result in your check-in being rejected, your stake being forfeited, and your account being closed.
3. How money is distributed (important)
At the end of a challenge, each member is resolved independently as either completed or not completed, based on their verified check-ins versus the challenge goal.
If you complete your challenge: your full stake is refunded to your original payment method. Completing members may also receive a share of forfeited stakes, as described below. We absorb the payment-processing fee on successful refunds — you get your whole stake back.
If you do not complete your challenge: your stake is forfeited and split three ways:
- 40% to the members who completed the challenge— the combined “winners” share from all forfeited stakes in your challenge is divided equally among the members who finished. This is a reward for following through.
- 40% to the challenge's chosen charity.
- 20% to Followthrough as a platform fee.
If no onein a challenge completes it, there are no winners to receive the 40% winners' share; that portion is redistributed to the charity and the platform in their existing 2:1 ratio (so the charity receives the larger part).
You acknowledge and accept that, by joining a challenge, money you forfeit may be paid to other members of that challenge who complete it, to the charity, and to Followthrough. You will never be charged more than your stake, and money you receive as a completing member is a share of stakes that others voluntarily forfeited — never a charge to anyone who completed.
Stakes are denominated in U.S. dollars. Refunds and payouts are processed after the challenge ends and may take several business days to appear depending on your bank and our payment processor.
4. Verification and disputes
Our verification is automated and may occasionally flag a genuine check-in for review or, rarely, get a reading wrong. Flagged check-ins are reviewed before a challenge resolves. If you believe a check-in was handled incorrectly, contact us promptly and before the challenge end date so we can review it. We aim to be fair, but we make the final determination of whether a check-in meets a goal.
5. Charities
Charitable portions are sent to the charity selected for the challenge. We route these donations through Pledge (Pledgeling Foundation), a third-party donation platform that disburses funds to the nonprofit and issues the tax receipt; a small platform and payment- processing fee is deducted from each donation. Followthrough is not itself a charity, and a stake is not a tax-deductible donation by you. We may substitute a comparable charity if a selected organization becomes unavailable.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe; by paying a stake you also agree to Stripe's terms. We don't store your full card details. You authorize us to hold your stake and to disburse it according to Section 3 when the challenge resolves.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Followthrough to break the law, cheat verification, harass other members, or create challenges with harmful, hateful, or dangerous content. We may remove content, cancel a challenge, or suspend an account that violates these Terms. If we cancel a challenge before it starts, paid stakes are refunded.
8. Disclaimers and limits
Followthrough is provided “as is.” We are not a substitute for medical or financial advice. Consult a professional before starting any new fitness program. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount of your stake in the relevant challenge.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms; we'll update the date above and, for material changes, notify you. Questions? Email hello@followthrough.life.
